After a two week Easter break, FCB went into their first match after the turn in confident form after their 6-0 mauling of Espacio Monsul. Despite the break, FCB went in with a depleted squad due to a multitude of reasons from injury to illness to holidays and work commitments. Even though, manager Rami had a strong squad to choose from. He started with

Max

Gonzalo   Omar   Antonio

Elvis   Alex    Calum   Luigi

Padriag

Lewis   Harry

With 24 hours of rain having soaked the pitch, the guys knew that the pitch was going to be slick and not helped by a biting gusty wind.

FCB kicked off and immediate were on the attack, dominating their opponent and after a few early chances, FCB opened the scoring courtesy of Padraig. The ball fell to him on the edge of the D and spotting the goalkeeper a yard off his line sent a lovely lob inside the back post which the keeper was unable to keep out.  Not content with being one goal up, FCB continued to pour forward but were dealt a blow 10 minutes later when Lewis, tracking back to help out, was adjudged to have fouled the opposition player on the edge of the box. Referee Angél (who according to Rami has no cojones), gave a free kick which the opposition number 29 struck, it hit Calum and Max was completed wrongfooted as it  deflected into the top corner. The players were angry and shortly after Calum and Padraig saw yellow for their verbal barrages against the referee. Attacks were breaking down and the opposition were starting to gain some confidence. That changed on 38  minutes when the talismanic Irishman latched onto a ball and fired in his second of the match from the edge of the box into the bottom corner.  FCB continued attacking and only a string of fine saves from the opposition keeper stopped FCB extending their lead.

Half-Time 2-1

The second half started and within 3 minutes FCB had added to their lead with some fine work down the left by Harry who squared a ball into the box, Luigi took an airshot but luckily the ball fell to Lewis who lashed it into the goal. The second half was now like the first with attacks breaking down, goalkeeping worldies and some bad luck. FCB were completely on top but then disaster struck, a ball played back to Max, he took a touch and then kicked it straight at the opposition striker, deflected up into his path and he slotted into an empty net 3-2. Eric came on for Padraig and Juan came on for Luigi. Within minutes both made a difference, Juan playing a lovely ball down the line for Harry, who squared to give Eric a JJ tap-in to restore FCB’s 2 goal cushion 4-2.  FCB were getting success down the flanks now, especially down the left where Harry was slid another fine ball, he took a touch and slotted the ball into the bottom corner for a well deserved goal 5-2.  The opposition were now starting to flounder and FCB made further changes with Dorus and Macca coming on for Lewis and Antonio. Wave after wave of attack was foiled by some great goalkeeping until a great counterattack saw Harry beat his man, run into space and then square a ball for Alex to rifle home with authority to make it 6-2. The last few minutes provided nothing of interest and eventually the referee put the opposition out of their misery and blew the final whistle.
