Recap

FCB went back into action with a home tie in the ‘Brit Derby’ against CF Tetuan. FCB knew that it was going to be a physical battle in a typical derby match. With a few faces missing due to work commitments and last minute call offs, FCB went into the match with a team of

Max

Elvis     Omar     Tom    Ed

Alex     EQ     Calum

Padraig     Lewis     Eric M

The game kicked off and immediately the opposition’s tactics were clear with FCB getting no time on the ball and when they did, receiving physical challenges including some nasty studs up tackles. The referee simply waving away any protests and looking happier to just finish the game and get home to a coffee and pinch of tortilla.  FCB were on the front foot and had a couple of near misses that were saved by the very capable opposition keeper. After 24 minutes FCB got their first of the match, EQ whipped a ball into the area, which was headed powerfully on target by Tom, his shot was saved and Lewis tucked it away with his second attempt in typical poacher’s fashion.  The opposition didn’t whither and continued with some tasty unpunished challenges, trying to hit FCB on the counter-attack using the speedy wingers and the good runs of their striker Rob Davy. FCB grabbed their second of the match on 38 minutes, Eric Murphy’s shot saved by the goalkeeper and EQ expertly scoring the rebound. The opposition were starting to visually weaken and a minute later Eric Murphy scored the goal of the game, spotting the goalkeeper not guarding his near post well and drove a powerful low shot into the bottom corner from 25 yards out.  Just on the stroke of half-time FCB grabbed their fourth, Lewis broke through into the area, spotted and onrushing Calum and rolled it into his path. Without breaking stride, he struck a powerful side-footed shot into the bottom corner, the opposition keeper having no chance.

Half-Time: 4-0

The second half began and within 2 minutes FCB had added their 5th of the match, Eric Murphy fouled in the box and Lewis making no mistake from the resulting spot kick to make it 5-0. FCB made changes, giving some well deserved game time to the patient substitutes. FCB were pressing but getting no further joy as the resolute opposition dug in. The opposition trying to hit FCB on the counter got joy in the 69th minute when indecision at the back from Gonzalo allowed the opposition to rob the ball and then grab themselves a goal with a nice finish. The game was starting to peter out, both teams starting to tire a little and attacks breaking down. FCB grabbed their final goal of the match on 82 minutes, Luigi played in Joe Simmons, who rolled back the years with a fine finish after his first shot was saved by the opposition keeper.
