FCB Bunwer 5-4 Procarton

Rami’s lads finally broke their winless run today in a 9 goal thriller against Procarton. The Brits started strongly and deservedly took the lead after 10 minutes with a fine team goal. Josh fired a great cross in, Kiki headed smartly back across goal and Mark nipped in to nod the ball home. With the wind against the Brits, Procarton levelled before half time as FCB failed to deal with a long ball. Worse was to come after the break as Procarton scored 3 more, with MOTM Josh’s goal at 3-1 down keeping them in the match. At 4-2, it looked like the same old story for the Brits, but they showed a resolve which has been missing recently, heaping the pressure on the visiting defence and forcing a Procarton own goal. With a cracking last 10 minutes set up, FCB took the initiative in the face of Procarton time wasting, and it paid off when Reece curled in an outstanding equaliser from the edge of the box. But better was yet to come, super-sub George Gomm picking the ball up 30 yards from goal and smashing a dramatic late winner into the top corner. FCB Bunwer’s finest performance of the season, and a thoroughly satisfying victory.

Silky’s Final Thought: “…..and you thought Chelsea’s comeback was good!!

After weeks in the doldrums losing game after game albeit sometimes by the narrowest of margins, FCB Bunwer finally returned to winning ways with arguably their finest victory and comeback of the entire season against classy Procarton. At 2-4 down with about 20 mins to go, Rami threw on Silky aka Bruce Lee and Nigel ‘kung fu kick’ De Jong after a lengthy absence due to a leg injury who was only too keen to shore up the defence with a somewhat ‘robust’ challenge which questioned what era the game was taking place in! However FCB held firm and an OG plus goals from Reece and big George propelled the club to a great win and is indicative of what this squad can achieve when the set up’s right and everybody’s in the mood.

As a footnote, I would like to reassure the team that I am not a malicious hatchet man type player and my prehistoric challenge was simply born out of a burning desire not to lose.”
