Robbed in Getafe

Inst Electr J.Uceda 2 – 1 FC Británico de Madrid

It was that trip of the year again that all the Britanicos hate, the game against Installaciones in Getafe. The place hasn’t been a happy hunting ground for Britanicos over the last few seasons, but the boys were determined to turn the tide today.

The starting line up was Liam Hyner in net, Sean and Tommy as the full backs, Christian and Ally as the centre back pairing. Midfield hosted Tally and Alex with Steve and Ish on the wings. Up front saw Parker and Zach just playing in the hole.

Britanicos started off like a speeding train pushing the opposition high up the pitch determined to get vengeance for last year. A slick ball from Josh to Parker presented the first chance of the match, but from a tight angle the shot never made its designated target. Then against the run of play. A double blow two quick goals with their only really opportunities.

Britanicos responded well some good interplay in the middle of the park released Parker continuously who in turn continuously won corners. However, the ball just never seemed to meet a Britanico head from the corners and as the clock towards half time ran down Britanicos finally pulled one back. Great work from Ish on the left picked out Zach on the penalty spot who duly smashed home. 2.1 and half time.

The second half got under way with high intensity again by Britanicos looking for that equaliser. Liam in net kept out a couple of long range efforts by the opposition but the first chance to Britanicos fell to Zach but his header was too weak to trouble the keeper. As emotions started running high and the installaciones boys continuously rolling around, asking for yellows and falling to the floor like dead men anytime anyone touched them, the game lost any flow.

Britanicos huffed and Puffed but the chances never really came until the last minute when Three Britanicos boys were lining up to bury the header, only for it to fall agonisingly wide as Parker tried to place it in the far corner (Unlucky I’d say, not a bad effort others would say and Ronaldo would have struggled at that angle, I would say again).

After that the game stop started more times then Charles’s Britanicos career. All the best Charles after the trip to the Gynaecologist last week.

The Final whistle went and the boys felt extremely hard done by. Three points dropped not two, as this was a game the boys should have won.

MOM: Liam Hyner a great debut in between the sticks.

A special shout also to Adam who worryingly turned on his right knee. The club are waiting for scans to check the extent of the injury.

Lee Fletcher’s thoughts: “Going to this ground is a tough test, but to be honest I thought that was the best we have played this season. Especially, the first half. They couldn’t hang with us on a physical level and we matched them technically. We pressed and pushed and didn’t give the opposition time to breath. I believe that is why they behaved the way that they did in the second half, shutting the whole game down. Some people say that is clever football, but I disagree, I want to win playing football, not causing disturbances with fouls and influencing the referee. The result wasn’t what we were looking for, however the facts are if we perform to that standard every week, we will win an awful lot more games than we will lose.”
