Recap
Saturday morning saw the clash of the two titans as FCB made the trip south to Getafe to face BLP. Only the visitors slight advantageous goal difference separated the two sides, with both having maintained a 100% win rate from their opening seven games.
The opening half got underway with FCB kicking from right to left. The Britanicos started slowly, and the opening ten minutes was a negative and a tentative affair as neither team risked conceding the opening goal.
FCB began to enjoy greater spells of possession, and several half chances went begging before captain Zac Harry nodded them in front from a set piece on the 25 minute mark. 0-1 FCB. The game resumed and the visitors pressed for the all important second only to be denied excellently by the hosts goalkeeper, with Tarek and Majid drawing saves from close range. The referee continued his sabotage campaign fantastically, which allowed BLP to gather momentum and confidence. After a defensive mix up resulted in a failed clearance, the ball took a wicked deflection and inexplicably ended up in the back of the net. The referee, inspired by Mike Dean, ran off to celebrate with the home crowd. BLP 1-1 FCB.
The first half spiraled in to a feisty affair with tackles flying in and yellow cards being brandished. FCB gaffer Rami Majid picked up his first yellow of the season for questioning the referees questionable motives. Both teams went in at half time with the home team the happier of the two to be heading in level.
Half time: 1-1
The game resumed and BLP, somewhat revitalized by the interval, started brightly and looked threatening on the counter attack, with Centre halves Thomsen and Hyner defending excellently to keep the scores level. Chances were few and far between for FCB in what was a lackluster and unimaginative second half. BLP looked the more likely of the two to snatch all 3 points, but to be denied on numerous occasions by man of the match Josue. The final ten minutes saw few chances as both teams consolidated the point. The referee blew his whistle and both teams took a share of the points. 1-1 Full time.
Despite an uninspiring performance FCB can take many positives from the game. BLP will not play better than that this year, and are still to play 5 of the top 7. The Britanicos are still unbeaten and will be looking to extend that run this Saturday in Vallecas against Chiquifri.
