Before Saturday the permutations of FCB´s visit to ninth placed CMFC were clear; 7 points from the remaining three games would guarantee them the league title, with BLP sitting precariously in second spot.

It was a first half to forget as FCB made the trip west to play CMFC at the Hippodromo. A recent dip in form was on show for all to see in a lackluster opening 45 minutes. The Brits got the game underway kicking from right to left, lining up 3-4-2-1. FCB started slowly and were unable to break their opposition down, who openly admitted they would settle for a point in order to boycott the potential title party. FCB rarely threatened and looked jaded in the opening 30 minutes, making little use of their superior possession. The only chances created in a forgettable first half were through KEITH and THOMSEN, who both had a fantastic game adapting excellently to the new system.

Half time 0-0.

The management team made changes and reverted back to the familiar system of 4-4-2.

The changes worked, immediately FCB looked more threatening and lively, with central midfielder MELLON running the show on and off the ball. FCB had a goal disallowed for an alleged obstruction, and this was the turning point in a second half that FCB dominated against a quickly tiring opponent. Centre back HYNER attacked an in swinging corner and reaped the dividends of seeing his header hit the back of the net. 0-1 FCB. Moments later, after a fullry of chances, MAJID converted another set piece to make the game 0-2. A sigh of relief could be heard around the stadium. It was that very sigh of relief that cost FCB a clean sheet, as CMFC scored with on the back of a very slow counter attack, slotting home past the otherwise untroubled keeper.1-2 FCB. FT

But for the 3 points, it was another disappointing day at the office for FCB. But as the old cliché goes; “points win championships, not performances”. FCB entertain AD Carrozas at home on Saturday in the penultimate match of the season, looking to take one step closer to being crowned champions.
