FCB Regional Hit 5 in Emphatic Win

4/3/2012 – Moratalaz

Racing Moratalaz 3-5 FCB Regional

FC Britanico’s Regional team travelled to mid-table Racing Moratalaz this morning. With several recent signings, FCB’s good form of late finally came together as FCB put 5 past Moratalaz in a convincing 5-3 victory. New boy Madris scored his 3rd and 4th goals for the club after yesterday having scored for the Bunwer team and on his debut last month, quickly earning himself a pichichi reputation. Not to be outdone, other rookie Nikki “Minaj” Flynn also bagged a brace and the MOTM award to boot, whilst it was left to the experience of Dave Pugh coolly slot home from the penalty spot.

Match Report from Michael Langan

FCB Regional travelled to Racing Moratalaz seeking to arrest their poor run of recent form. Again, FCB made the trip with a squad of fifteen, able to leave luminaries such as Luke Hilley on the bench. FCB lined up: Matt Yea (seriously), Yoichi, Will Styles, Spanish Fernando, Nick Papac, Michael, Lee Armstrong, MADris, Dangerous Dave Pugh and Nikki Minaj. Neil Moran stood on the sidelines, the gentle breeze ruffling his carefully tousled hair. However, you could see the nerves etched upon his handsome yet time ravaged face.

FCB started at an electric tempo, seizing control of midfield, and pushing forward in search of a goal. With Madris and Minaj causing real difficulty, and FCB took the lead when Minaj forced a mistake to finish after a through ball by acting club captain Michael. In the unfamiliar position of leading, FCB sought to make the most of their advantage, dominating the first half and going close on several occasions, before Madris controlled well and embarked on a fine solo run to double FCB’s lead. However, the slack concentration which has plagued both sides this term again reared its head when a long ball wasn’t dealt with, and Matt Yea was left flat footed to allow Moratalaz into a game they had scarcely been involved in. From here, FCB regrouped and continued to press on and, after fine hold up play by Dave Pugh, had a third when Madris coolly slotted home his second of the game, and third of the weekend (having scored for the Bunwer team the previous day). As the first half drew to a close, FCB were perhaps unlucky not to put the game truly behind Moratalaz.

The second half was very much a continuation of the first for FCB, with Nikki Minaj continuing to bully the Moratalaz defence in spite of his effeminate name and hair cut. After a questionable assist from Matt Yea, the game was made secure for FCB (until Matt Yea later decided it wasn’t) after Nikki slammed home his second of the afternoon to establish a comfortable three goal lead. From here FCB made some changes, having already replaced over the hill passenger Lee Armstrong, and their pace began to diminish. With ten minutes remaining, they were punished, after confusion in the heart of defence allowed the Moratalaz striker to nick in and ensure a nervy climax to the game. Nerves truly began to shred a few minutes later when Matt Yea was lobbed (while on his line). However, the resilience which has been evident in the last few weeks from the regional side finally materialised, and a two goal advantage was restored after Dave Pugh calmly slotted home a penalty to conclude the scoring at 5-3. While this was an excellent performance, the final score does not reflect the dominance and superiority enjoyed by the Regional side, and they will look to carry this over into next week’s fixture.
MOTM went to Nikki Minaj, who was thoroughly impressive in the difficult lone striker role.
ps, many thanks to Lee Armstrong for his continued playing through the pain barrier, what a champ.
pps, the fact that things went downhill slightly after ‘NDM’ left the match for commentating duties, is pure coincidence and his job remains well and truly on the line.
