Bunwer finish season with a mauling of Proyel Duero

FCB looked to bring the curtain down on a season of mixed emotions with a home affair against Proyel Duero at the La Elipa Cage. For several the lads, they were keen to end their FCB careers on a high. Adopting a more offensive approach than usual, FCB lined up: Yea, Kiki, Ally, Gary Weir, Nick Boyle. Michael, Nestor, Josh. Ishmael, Zach and Mark.

From the offset, FCB adopted a high intensity, moving the ball around with a composure and patience which had abandoned them in recent weeks. The front three provided the necessary energy, and it wasn’t long until FCB were ahead after a back post finish from Zak. Two minutes later, after a clumsy foul, the lead was doubled from the
spot and FCB were flying. They continued to have the confidence to move the ball around, emboldened by a steady and assured back four which gave Proyel Duero very little to go on. Zack had his hatrick soon after, rounding off some good team play. With FCB four up (Zack, again), Proyel Duero threatened to make a game with a thunderous strike which cannoned in off the upright reducing the arrears to three.

FCB began the second half again with high energy levels, forcing Proyel Duero into several mistakes. Before long, FCB had found goals five and six to end the game as a contest. From here, the quality, on both sides, dropped and FCB continued to add to their tally, despite themselves being well off form by this point. Ultimately, the game was
abandoned at 11-1, with the embarrassment complete and the only issue now was whether both sides could maintain their discipline. It was a sad end to the game, and should not mask that the first forty five minutes were as high a quality as FCB have provided all season. After a Jekyll and Hyde season, FCB did at least sign off on a positive note
and, for those who are staying, next season can be met with fresh relish,

MOTM: Zack
