The 2010-11 season ended on a high for FC Británico de Madrid, winning four of the last five games, beating the league champions 3-2 away and smashing six past San Cristobal in the run in. During a season spanning 10 months and taking in 34 games, FC Británico de Madrid chalked up 15 victories, drawing 6 and losing 13 games. This was enough to ensure an 8th placed finish in group 7 of the Tercera Regional division, in a season which saw the team never fall out of the top half of the table. Top scorer Lee Armstrong who netted an impressive 20 goals from midfield as well as contributing with 18 assist was awarded the Players Player of the Year at the clubs end of season presentation night. Player of the Year went to Ross Proud, the almost ever present centre half who added composure and consistency to the team when it was most needed.
The other FC Británico de Madrid team had a mix campaign with the Bunwer season kicking off in mid September with a new league format. All 22 teams having to play each other and then form 2 divisions. The objective was to qualify for the top division, which we did with a few games to go, beating on the way big teams like Union Selección and Banco de España. At one stage, the team even topped the table. Unfortunately, we started to lose players for different reasons and consequently struggled for consistency with the lineup continuously changing. To highlight the situation, only 2 players who featured in the first game of the season were available for the last one. Having made almost 50 signings, we still managed to finish mid-table. Despite all the obstacles we achieved our objective of providing many players with a game, most people who’ve been involved have enjoyed themselves and made the most of the opportunity to play competitive 11 a side football in Madrid.
