Another glorious Saturday morning, another early morning metro trip to Vallecas and another team of veterans and nippers awaited FC Britanico on Saturday as they took on league stalwarts Animales at Fundación Rayo Vallecano.

The back-line was composed of Jorge in goal with Pete, Ricky Rama and Ed in front of him. The midfield was Calum, Oscar, Mathi and Sean and up front were Luigi and Joe. The first goal came after around 20 minutes when, now regular, goalscorer and revered aerial leaper Rama got his head to a ball looped hopefully into the area by his compatriot Mathi. The second goal from veteran forward and revered beer drinker Joe came from nice work down the right from Pete Curran and was a sweetly struck volley on the run that found the back of the net with the keeper stranded.

Keen to keep up appearances with former coach Fleck in attendance among the 3 strong crowd, Rami gave the boys a chewing out at half-time for failing to play better football and putting a few passes into midfield astray. Lo and behold the lads clicked into gear in the second period against their more experienced opposition and promptly found the net for a third time with Joe again on the scoresheet from another cross, this time via his lovely head of thick hair. Keen to get in on the act the other Uruguayan Mathi got a fourth with a delightfully controlled lob over the rookie keeper. Animales in truth rarely threatened and were running out of any atavistic fury their name might have suggested by the 65-minute mark when the substitutions were made by Majid. Adi, Harry and Sam coming on for Luigi, Pete and Joe just in time to see goals 5 and 6 from Calum. The first after a cutback from the left and the second via a slice of luck off the keeper.

The victory was rounded off when perennial man of the match contender Sean saw his long-range effort rebound off the post and diminutive penalty box pest Sam made up ground on the centre back to slot home from close range. 7-0 the final score.

Man of the Match: Sean McBride
Goal of the Match: Mathias Pensatori
Quote of the Day: Probably something from Rami (as usual)
