FCB travelled to Polideportivo Alberto Garcia, a ground new to the Bunwer League, on Saturday morning to face new team Diesel CF. After waiting around for half an hour on the freeing December morning watching the sun come up, the boys were finally let in by a disgruntled caretaker and the game kicked off with the starting lineup below:

Manuel
Dorus, Ricky, Rama, Ed
Jack
Ish,Vikante, Calum, Luigi
Lewis

The armband was wrapped around a big tattooed arm as Ricky took the honours on the occasion of his last game for the club.

The lads went from 0 to 60 in no time as Lewis tapped in to open his account for the day, Vikante then pulled one right out of the top drawer and into the top corner, and then Lewis grabbed his second after nice work from Rama. The boys didn’t let up against unknown opposition and tore into them for four further goals before the halftime whistle. Calum scored after a nice pass from Lewis, Vico got on the end of a cross hung up at the back post from the left and someone else scored (no Graeme to put the scorers on Twitter this week. So sorry whoever you are). Though the opposition weren’t up to much, FCB were playing some very composed football and forcing mistakes all over the place.

At halftime Rami rightly emphasized the importance of the clean sheet and set the team out with some determination not to let complacency creep in to their game.

A more disjointed second half ensued without too many miles being clocked up in defence with everyone trying to add to their season’s goal tally. There were however more goals to be netted as first the opposition goalkeeper forgot tried to keep the ball in play for some reason and hopelessly handed the ball to Vikante who squared for Lewis to grab his hattrick with the easiest goal he will ever score. Vikante then got himself on the scoresheet again as he converted from the left of the box past a demoralised Diesel defence running on fumes and in need of it’s MOT.

Next Captain Ricky wrote his name in FCB folklore. Having almost scored in the first half with a lung busting run all the way from centre back only be denied by a decent block, the big man was sent up top by his centre back partner and ordered to get himself on the scoresheet. His goal was a fabulously calm finish from a tight angle having pressured the now thoroughly demoralised defenders into coughing up another ball in the red zone. To say the crowd went wild here would be an understatement. The amiable Welshman is a popular member of the squad and will be sorely missed on and off the pitch. A few minutes later and a freekick in a promising position was tamely chipped straight at the goalkeeper much to the hilarity of those in Britanico red. Ricky will be missed, but his dead ball marksmanship may not be.

There was time left in the match for Manuel to pull off a great save to avert a lack in concentration at the back costing FCB a goal, and then for Calum to round off the scoring by smacking a delightful first time lob over a hapless Diesel keeper who had once again given the ball away following some good pressing by Lewis. 11-0 the final score and all went off to the Christmas party in feeling revved up.

Man of the Match: Ricky Pearson
Goal of the Match: (Would love to give this to Ricky as well, but honestly this top binner goal gave me a semi): Vico Sanchez
