Recap

An eclectic bunch of Británicos congregated in Vallecas for an emotional game which Rami’s legends wanted to win but Rami’s presents needed to win. The game had been dominated by confusion and downright nonsense in the buildup – Langan and Renucci had attempted to steal Andy McLeod in the lead-up. The legends took an early lead through Richard Jones before being pegged back by a lovely side-foot finish from Callum that Matt Yea would have saved five years ago. If he were Hutch. Not content with the ability and fitness gap, Matt Yea decided to play sweeper and quickly realised that Jordan would likely skin him if he could skin an actual footballer. 2-1. The vets levelled to make it 2-2 at halftime and Langan briefly congratulated himself on rolling the clock back before realising it had coincided with Calum being taken off, as well as Tally who lived up to his promise of standing right on top of Langan.
Halftime 1-1
The second half started with Tally in the unfamiliar role of right mid but not the unfamiliar role of screaming at Langan for not closing down the midfield. The fact was, he 3-2 outnumbered and the ‘2’ was 55 lost on the mauler from Manchester. It didn’t take Rami’s present team long to go 3-2 up after an effort from Calum from the aide of the box. If you were being harsh on Matt Yea, you could say a goalie should dive before the ball is behind him. FCB’s present team showed their quality with two fine goals to put the game beyond the vets.
They ran in three, including 2 fine long-range efforts from Matthew & Max before a consolation for the legends team from Alan Munro made it 8-3.
Nevertheless, it was a fantastic day out and great credit goes to Matt Yea and Graeme Beaty for putting on an event which allowed a team spanning close to a decade to come together and reminisce about games, glory, agony and, most importantly, friendship.
The day showed Rami has a team well placed to challenge, but more so that he, along with Graeme, Stuart and many others, have created a club which is truly like no other
